OBIT.

Kent David Huffman—bike rider, traveler, philosopher, mentor, artist, sartorialist, attorney, father, and notorious friend-stealer—born August 16, 1954, in Mount Gilead, Ohio, died on the auspicious day of March 20, 2026, the Spring Equinox, in West Palm Beach.

A longtime Palm Beach County attorney, Kent built his career on sharp thinking, thoughtful counsel, and an instinct for reading people. He had a way of cutting through complexity with clarity and originality, offering advice that was both practical and thoughtfully considered. He stood by his clients without wavering, guided by a strong sense of fairness and an independent mind.

‘Kenny’s Bucket List’—each of which he accomplished: Raft the Urubamba River, watch Formula One auto racing at Monza, walk up Mt. Hood to observe the Leonid Meteor Shower, shake hands with B.B. King, watch the sunrise from the gardens behind Versailles, ride the downhill bike trails at Mt. Sainte Anne, wait in a food truck line with Paul Newman, spend a few days on Panarea in the Aeolian Islands, sit in the sound booth for a Rolling Stones concert, walk up Huayna Picchu to observe the Winter Solstice, stand on the spot where Kennedy was shot, swim at St. Tropez, ride a motorbike in the desert in Aruba, discuss BBQ techniques with Max Commencal, ski the Arlberg in St. Anton, have Bloody Marys with Hubert Humphrey, own a Porsche 911, fly a private jet from Palm Beach to NYC, learn how to throw a rope, swim at Valencia, Spain.

A final reflection on life and impermanence, he wrote: Awakening, I thought I had wasted thirty years. Now it is unavoidably clear, that even a snowflake does not fall in the wrong place. Let go. There is no need to cling to the edge of the chasm. The clouds below are unconcerned, about where the wind will carry them. I am ready to recline beside the lotus blossom lake. Don’t worry, you will see me again, in a bolt of lightning, as it strikes the sea.

His daughters, Cali and Alia Huffman, and his partner, Kirstina Boomer, were by his side, sharing in the merit of his final act.

In lieu of flowers, honor him by doing a good deed for someone else.
